Reading
When you tell people that your 2 year old is reading, they look at you with this “Oh I know you’re proud of him, but I also know that there is no way he is really reading” look on their faces. When you tell people your 3 year old is reading, they give you the “Recognizes a few letters, does he?” skeptical look. When you tell them your 4 year old is reading, the look is more of an “Oh, how nice that he can recognize his own name and a few other easy words” look. Regardless, Nathan is reading. He is reading Clifford books. He is reading Curious George. He is reading Little Critter. He loves Amelia Bedilia, as well as Henry and Mudge. If none of these are familiar to you, this means that he is reading at about a 2nd grade reading level. But most importantly, he loves to read. Nathan spends 2 hours everyday in his room for “rest time”. For the most part, he spends 2 hours reading whatever is available in his room. It is great fun!
