Vowels

Earlier today, Austin had an appointment with the orthodontist for another adjustment of his braces. Today's visit included some additional bands that left his teeth rather sore. Such moments call for a trip to IntaJuice for a smoothie to soothe away the discomfort. On the way to IntaJuice, Nathan said, "A,E,Y,O,U and sometimes I". Almost! He's been learning his vowels. As Austin stepped out of the car at IntaJuice, he said, in passing, "A,E,I,O,B and sometimes C" ... just to be funny. Then he closed the car door.

Nathan paused, and then asked, "Mommy, does everyone in our family know the vowels?"

I answered, "Yes."

After another moment, he said, "Austin's in our family, right?"
